In 2017, Community Consolidated School District 180 and Studio GC completed a new addition and renovations to Anne M. Jeans Elementary School, which serves early childhood through 5th grade. The addition includes a new learning commons, nurse’s office suite, community room, and family services food pantry. The nurse’s office suite doubles as a community nurse clinic as well as a dental specific exam room. The landlocked site with extremely tight dimensions, required strategic planning for the appropriate location to better serve specific adjacencies of spaces that the school did not previously have. The new plan provides proper separations to serve both the school and the community at all times of the day. The renovations portion adds additional classrooms and building storage space where an undersized library and underused computer lab once stood. Furthermore, a growing early childhood program required that existing space be combined to create properly sized classrooms.
