Dolton’s library hadn’t been updated in nearly 30 years and was in need of a refresh. The interior had become dated and lacked 21st century library amenities. The District saved for years to upgrade its facility and asked Studio GC to create an exuberant space for the community; an uplifting environment full of color and light. The children’s library celebrates Dolton’s historic ties to the railroad.
The Studio GC worked within the constraints of a tight budget to give the library a complete facelift. Careful attention to construction costs and strategic adjustments to project scope allowed us to bring in the project within budget.
Library users were delighted when the revamped library opened in spring 2019. We were proud to have had the opportunity to bring Dolton this much-needed center of community. The Dolton Library remodeling project is a story of transformation.
