Although the La Grange Public Library had good street presence, the lobby and entry were comparatively dark and uninviting. Wayfinding was an issue as well. The Studio GC team reconfigured the plan, capturing 850 square feet of underutilized exterior space to transform the lobby and children’s area into an exciting, transparent, and light-filled experience. The reimagined lobby invites patrons to spend time, read a book and meet friends. The enlarged and brightened children’s library is serving more children and caregivers than ever, providing a stimulating environment geared toward learning and play.
