Lansing Public Library

The Lansing Public Library was in need of a refresh and modernization. Like many older libraries it lacked small group meeting rooms and the worn, dark wood furniture was dated, uncomfortable and not suitable for personal computing. The interior layout had poor sightlines and needed a fresher, brighter look.

The Lansing Library Board hired Studio GC to help them bring the library in line with 21st-Century library standards. In addition to new meeting rooms and updated interiors, Studio GC suggested that the library replace the large central glass skylight with an energy efficient insulated sky lighting system that reduced glare and provided even illumination throughout the space. The new system not only saves the library a significant amount of energy but transforms the interior into a bright and welcoming space.
