Phase 1 of the renovation was developed collaboratively with the library to create a more welcoming and engaging experience. Focusing on the marketplace and entry, the design improves accessibility, wayfinding, community identity, and creates a greater sense of joy upon arrival.
Inspired by the concept of “Ricochet,” pops of color, expressive graphics, ceiling changes, and built-in seating create visual cues that guide visitors toward the main stacks. Cultural and historical influences strengthen the connection between the library and its community. The project also includes a new entry canopy, updated plaza and site elements, and backlit signage that creates a more prominent, recognizable entrance.
