The high school and middle school sites for Urbana School District 116 is located on a single landlocked campus where access and flow has been relatively unchanged in the last 20 years. To fully understand the needs, Studio GC facilitated several community discussion forums gathering all potential user groups of the campus. The resulting Campus Master Plan is a comprehensive site and facilities plan that will provide clear, safe and distinct access to both schools and their associated athletic facilities for students, parents, staff, and visitors by several different modes of transportation. A concurrent focus is to provide strategic outdoor educational opportunities to enrich the curriculum and provide potential partnerships with the surrounding community. Studio GC provided a solution with multiple options that can be phased per the prioritization schedule and as funding becomes available.
